Byron Allen Donates $100,000 to Nolan Xavier Wells Family Fundraiser

Media mogul Byron Allen has donated $100,000 to the official fundraiser supporting the family of Nolan Xavier Wells, the 18-year-old who was found dead on Mississippi’s Horn Island after disappearing during a Fourth of July boating trip. Allen made the contribution on Saturday, July 11, adding to the growing wave of support for Wells’ family as they seek answers surrounding his death.

Allen’s donation helped propel the GoFundMe campaign well beyond its initial fundraising goal. The fundraiser was established to help cover funeral expenses and ease the financial burden on Wells’ family as they navigate their devastating loss.

The media executive joins a number of high-profile supporters who have contributed to the campaign, including comedian Lil Rel Howery and Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight. In addition, filmmaker Tyler Perry has pledged to cover Wells’ funeral expenses, while former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is funding an independent autopsy requested by the family.

Wells, a promising football player at Southwest Mississippi Community College, was reported missing after a boating trip to Horn Island on July 4. His body was discovered two days later, and his family, represented by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, continues to call for a transparent and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Allen’s six-figure donation reflects the broad outpouring of compassion and solidarity for the Wells family during an extraordinarily difficult time. As supporters across the country continue to contribute and offer assistance, the family’s message remains focused on honoring Nolan’s memory while seeking truth and accountability.
