At Just 11, Sebastian Wilson Opens Caribbean-Inspired Pizzeria in Brooklyn
At an age when many children are focused on school and hobbies, 11-year-old Sebastian Wilson is already making his mark in the business world. In 2024, the young entrepreneur opened Sebastian’s Spices and Slices, a Caribbean-inspired pizzeria in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, bringing a fresh and flavorful twist to one of America’s favorite foods.
Located at 1828 Nostrand Avenue, the restaurant combines traditional pizza with the vibrant tastes of the Caribbean. Drawing inspiration from his Trinidadian and Grenadian heritage, Wilson’s menu features unique specialty pizzas topped with ingredients such as oxtail, jerk chicken, and saltfish, offering customers a fusion of cultures in every slice.
Wilson credits much of his success to his parents, both entrepreneurs, who introduced him to cooking while teaching him valuable lessons about hard work, discipline, and perseverance. Their guidance has helped him transform an ambitious idea into a thriving business.
“My parents are hard workers, and I just want to be a hard worker like them,” Wilson said. He also hopes his journey encourages other young people to chase their dreams regardless of their age.
“It doesn’t matter what age you are,” he said. “You can still make your dreams come true.”
Supporting him every step of the way is his mother, Natalie Lamming, who is helping prepare him to eventually take full leadership of the family business. Together, they are building more than just a neighborhood pizzeria—they are creating a community space that celebrates Caribbean culture, family traditions, and the entrepreneurial spirit.
Since opening its doors, Sebastian’s Spices and Slices has attracted attention for both its distinctive menu and the inspiring story behind its young founder. Customers have embraced the restaurant’s creative flavors while applauding Wilson’s determination and vision.
As his business continues to grow, Sebastian Wilson is proving that age is no barrier to success. His journey serves as an inspiring reminder that with passion, dedication, and the support of family, young entrepreneurs can turn big dreams into reality while making a lasting impact on their communities.
