Tyler Brodsky was driving back to Oklahoma from Florida when he stopped at a QuikTrip in Alabama so his daughters could use the bathroom.

What happened next has since exploded across social media, with Brodsky’s video racking up more than 15 million views and sparking fierce debate over what parents should do in situations like this.

According to Brodsky, he made a split-second decision to take his daughters into the women’s bathroom because it was empty — believing it was the safest option.

“I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls,” he wrote alongside the viral clip.

Y’all make this man famous. We stopped at a QuikTrip on our road trip from Florida back to Oklahoma so my daughters could use the restroom. The women’s restroom was empty, so I took them in. I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls. This guy comes barging in yelling, scares my daughters, and somehow thinks THEY should’ve been in the men’s room instead. Am I wrong here?

The footage shows Brodsky helping his daughters wash their hands inside the restroom while a furious customer stood at the doorway and began shouting.

“There is a man with his two little girls in the women’s bathroom,” the man could be heard yelling.

The customer claimed his wife and her “very ill” mother were waiting outside to use the bathroom and accused Brodsky of “taking his whole sweet time”.

But the confrontation quickly escalated, with the commotion leaving one of Brodsky’s daughters visibly upset and crying. Rather than engaging, Brodsky stayed focused on calming his girls and called the man “immature.”

A store manager then stepped in, shutting the restroom door on the angry customer and apologising to Brodsky and his daughters.

However, the situation didn’t end there.

The man went on to call police, insisting Brodsky had “no business” being inside the women’s bathroom and arguing that a female employee should have taken the children in instead.

But when officers arrived, Brodsky said they made it clear he had done nothing wrong.

“The officers let me know I was OK, I didn’t do anything wrong,” he explained in a follow-up video.

He added: “Taking two little girls into the men’s restroom could be viewed as negatively as me going to the women’s restroom with my girls.”

According to Brodsky, police eventually asked the other man to leave the store.

What stood out most to him, however, was how officers handled the aftermath with his children.

“The officers came, talked to my girls, made sure they felt safe. They put a good image of police officers for my girls growing up. The QuikTrip employees gave my girls free ices, which is very kind of them.

Brodsky later confirmed his daughters are now “safe, happy, and doing great.”

While the video triggered heated reactions, the overwhelming majority of social media users sided with the father, arguing he made the best call in an awkward no-win situation.

“He was being a good dad. There was no one in there when he came in. The other guy is just being a jerk,” one person wrote.

Another questioned the angry man’s own actions, asking: “Excuse me, sir, why are you on the phone, standing at the entrance watching two little girls in the bathroom?”

Many fathers also shared similar stories, saying the lack of family bathrooms often leaves parents with impossible decisions.

“This video brought to my attention something bigger than this incident,” Brodsky said. “I’ve received thousands of messages from moms, grandparents, caregivers who have been in similar situations.

“This isn’t about one argument in a gas station. It’s about the fact that parents are often put in situations that aren’t comfortable. We’re simply trying to take care of our children and keep them safe.”

He also made clear he doesn’t want the man involved to face harassment over the incident.

“I want to be clear about something: I don’t support anyone harassing anyone involved,” he said. “I’m simply sharing what happened to my family and I hope the man that did this will come across this video and realize what he did was wrong and not do it to anyone else.”

For Brodsky, the whole ordeal has become less about one angry stranger and more about a wider issue many parents know all too well.

“Hopefully it’ll bring attention to people that feel the need to berate a mom or dad trying to take care of their kids,” he added.
