The driving lesson ended with the death of her father, a totaled car, and a hospital stay for the student driver. The grocery store had closed down on March 2. While in the car, the teen drove straight through a wooden fence on the edge of the parking lot, sending the car over an embankment. His daughter was also significantly injured. First responders rushed her to the Mission Viejo hospital. Doctors expect her to survive.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Police believe gas\/brake confusion may have caused the crash.<\/h2>\n<p>The police are still investigating the cause of the crash. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/california\/article307365531.html\">Gas pedal-brake pedal confusion<\/a>\u201d may have caused the car to flip over the embankment, Lt. Jesse Schmidt told KCAL. As more details become available, the department plans to share them with the public.
