when he was a baby.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_3-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cI was horrified,\u201d the actress, 33, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. \u201cIt\u2019s a feeling that can come back to you so quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cThis is the first time that you\u2019ve ever loved somebody like this, and they\u2019re so helpless in this situation,\u201d she continues.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_7-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot rel=\"noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Sanofi<\/a> to promote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyfortus.com\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">Beyfortus<\/a> ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/toddler-hospitalized-returned-to-ice-detention-denied-prescribed-medication-family-says-11902278\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\">RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) season<\/a> \u2014welcomed her only child, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/keke-palmer-son-everything-to-know-11902987\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"4\">Leodis \u201cLeo\u201d Andrellton Jackson<\/a>, with ex-boyfriend <a through a visit to the pediatrician about Beyfortus, which, according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyfortus.com\/us\/about-beyfortus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">website<\/a>, is \u201ca preventive antibody that protects babies born during or entering their first RSV season against serious RSV lung infection.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_24-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_25-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cObviously, like any mother, you\u2019re scared and you want to figure out the best way to help your baby, and I realized that it was the right thing for me and for Leo, to help protect him against the serious lung infections that can be caused by RSV,\u201d Palmer tells PEOPLE of her decision to utilize Beyfortus as a tool to protect her then-newborn baby son\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_26-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_27-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block people-sc-block-featuredlink--people-app-promo mntl-block\">\n<div id=\"people-app-promo__left_1-0\" class=\"comp people-app-promo__left mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_29-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">RSV is a common respiratory virus that infects the nose, throat, respiratory tract and lungs, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/rsv\/about\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/a>.
