id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Destiny Rael, who says she has been Tenisha Warner\u2019s closest friend for 19 years and first introduced her to Malcolm, has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/in-honor-of-malcolmjamal-warner-support-for-his-family\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">launched a GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0with a goal of $150,000 to support Tenisha as she continues navigating a legal battle involving\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/malcolm-jamal-warner-s-widow-reveals-why-the-actor-wanted-to-start-a-family-with-her-12025640\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">her late husband\u2019s estate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p has had to carry,\u201d Rael wrote in a message shared with the fundraiser. \u201cI know she would never ask for this kind of support herself, so I am asking on her behalf.\u201d<\/p>\n<div data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">an accidental drowning<\/a>\u00a0while on a family vacation in Costa Rica on July 20, 2025. In the year since, Rael said Tenisha has continued homeschooling her daughter while grieving the loss of her husband.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block home after Malcolm\u2019s death to find that the house she shared with her husband had been affected by \u201cunexpected flooding.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cShe is rebuilding not only her life without him, but the very home they created together,\u201d Rael wrote, adding that Tenisha has simultaneously faced legal and financial matters while caring for their daughter.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">The home carries particular significance for Tenisha, who told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/gayle-king\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Gayle King<\/a>\u00a0in an interview last month that despite the pain of living there without Malcolm, she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/malcolm-jamal-warner-widow-gayle-king-interview-before-lawsuit-12024235\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">couldn\u2019t imagine leaving<\/a>\u00a0the place where they built their life together.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_18-0\" moving during a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/malcolm-jamal-warner-tenisha-warner-pamela-warner-lawsuit-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">CBS Mornings interview<\/a>\u00a0conducted before she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/malcolm-jamal-warner-widow-sues-his-mom-year-after-his-death-12023702\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">filed a lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0against the late actor\u2019s mother over his estate, Tenisha replied, \u201cI don\u2019t think about moving.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_20-0\" Right here,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd it hurts. stepped back from her career as a doctor of psychology for much of her marriage to focus on raising their daughter and supporting Malcolm and their family.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_39-0\" of the decision. \u201cBut it means that today, without his income and without access to what he intended to provide for them, she does not have the financial cushion people might husband\u2019s estate privately.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_46-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_47-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cFor the last year, I have attempted to privately settle my beloved husband\u2019s complicated estate and honor his last wishes,\u201d she said in a statement.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_48-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_49-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Tenisha said Malcolm intended to provide for her and their daughter and had been \u201cclose to finalizing a new estate plan\u201d that would have replaced one created in 1996, when he was 26 \u2014 decades before his marriage and the birth of his daughter. He was \u201cunable to do so before we lost him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_50-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_51-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cI have been struggling to care for our daughter as a single mom and now as her sole provider,\u201d Tenisha continued. \u201cLegally, I had no choice but to take action to protect our rights before any potential statute of limitations expired.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_52-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_53-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">In a filing in Georgia\u2019s DeKalb County Superior Court previously obtained by PEOPLE, Tenisha claimed that she and Malcolm signed a premarital agreement in May 2022 under which he agreed to secure a $1 million life insurance policy naming her as the sole beneficiary.
